Germany has a number of regional Data Centre city market clusters, with Data Centre facilities in all of the key cities. Frankfurt is still the largest cluster – accounting for over 60 per cent of the total German Data Centre raised floor space – (an increase of approximately eight per cent since April 2022 datacentrepricing’s report.
New developments of which there are forty-five yet to come into operation by some twenty-five data centre providers have announced just under 700k m2 new space. Eleven of the new data centres will be location in the Berlin area, twenty-one in the Frankfurt area, two in Hamburg, one in Hanau, two in Leipzig and three in Munich with the largest being that from Virtus going to offer 204 MW with its proposed Berlin campus comprising of four buildings to go live in 2026. This new Virtus site making it the company’s first data centre in the German market is positioned as one of Germany’s and Europe’s largest scale green data centre campuses.
